Sports massage is for anyone who is involved in weekend recreational sporting activities. All group live seminars are based on the minimum of four (4) registered participants per seminar session and registration for each live seminar session must be completed seven (7) days prior to the starting date. Any live seminar session with less than four (4) registered participants within six (6) days prior to the starting date will be cancelled and any paid registration will be fully refunded.

National Certification Exam Preparatory Classes

"Are you prepared to take the National Massage Exam?"

The Carrico Muscle Therapy Center, a national CEU provider for the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork is offering graduates of massage therapy programs the opportunity to review topics related to massage and bodywork. This unique opportunity will enhance the candidate's chances to become better prepared to take and pass on the National Board Exam. The areas of studies covered during this exam review follow the National Certification Examination for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork Content Outline. E.g. General knowledge of the Body Systems, Anatomy, Physiology, Kinesiology, Pathology, Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork Assessment and Applications, and Professional Standards of Ethics and Business. The national board exam preparatory meeting will be held at the Carrico Muscle Therapy Center on Monday & Wednesday afternoons for two weeks.

Holistic Practices for Massage Therapists

The Holistic Practices for Massage Therapists certificate of completion can be obtained by fully attending all four Modules related to natural approaches to health listed below. Participants will be exposed to many aspects of natural health practices that could become a complement to the practice of massage therapy along with the enhancement of the practitioner’s health. Practitioners that do not wish to obtain the certificate of completion on Holistic Practices for Massage Therapists can attend individual modules and receive the certificate of completion related to that module.

Registration to one or more modules must be completed 7 business days before the beginning of each module.

NO last minute registrations will be accepted!

The minimum of 5 participants per module is needed in order for a module to be offered.

Module 1-Physiological Effects of Stress- Monday, June 20, 2011 -Time: 9:00am – 12:00pm 
 

This module will cover what stress actually is and how stress can become a problem to a person’s health. Attendants will learn about the differences between good and bad stressors, physiological changes upon exposure to bad stress, and ways to avoid and manage stresses that are harmful to a person’s health. Cost: $85.00- 3 CE

 

Module 2-Self-Care Exercises and Activities -      Monday, June 27, 2011             Time: 9:00am – 12:00pm

 

The Self-Care Exercises and Activities module is intended to expose massage therapy practitioners to the benefits of practicing Eastern exercise modalities.  The knowledge obtained by attending this module can help practitioners and clients on the enhancement of postural balance, coordination, flexibility, muscular strength, and overall health. The Longevity Exercise “Chi Gong and Yoga will be covered during this module. Cost: $85.00- 3 CE

 

Module 3-Oriental Medicine Approaches -Monday, July 11, 2011 -Time: 9:00am – 12:00pm

The healing powers of Oriental Medicine can become an important addition to the practice of massage therapy since the focus is on the treatment of the whole person and not the suppression of symptoms. Many aspects of Oriental techniques will be covered during this module class. Cost: $85.00- 3 CE

Module 4-Natural Supplements and Massage Interactions -Monday, July 25, 2011 - Time: 9:00am-12:00pm

Today, more people are seeking the use of natural supplements in addition to traditional health care. Therefore, it would be important for massage therapists to become better educated in regards to common use of natural supplements such as herbs, homeopathy, minerals, and vitamins. During this class, attendants will learn the musculoskeletal benefits and contra-indications to massage of many natural supplements.

FACULTY INSTRUCTORS

Antonio Carrico, a natural health consultant and instructor of human sciences for INHE has a Bachelor of Arts from Governors State University, a Doctor of Traditional Naturopathy from Clayton College, and is completing his Master of Science in Psychology with California Coast University. He is involved with program development at INHE, academic advising, and instructional activities.

Melissa Carrico, a natural health practitioner and instructor of human sciences for INHE has an Associate of Applied Sciences in Occupational Therapy from College of DuPage, an Associate of Applied Sciences in Management and Marketing from Kankakee Community College, and she is completing her Bachelor of Science in Psychology with California Coast University. She is involved with program development at INHE, academic advising, finance management, and instructional activities.
